My life as a Syrian refugee in Egypt took an unexpected turn when I was diagnosed with breast cancer. Upon discovering a lump in my breast, I consulted a gynecologist who recommended that I seek further evaluation at Baheya Hospitals and Centers. After undergoing various examinations, including a mammogram, ultrasound, and x-rays, I was diagnosed with breast cancer.

Initially, I felt overwhelmed by sadness and despair, questioning why this was happening to me. I was intimidated by the prospect of chemo, having heard about its potentially severe and critical effects. My treatment plan included eight rounds of chemotherapy, followed by a total mastectomy.

Throughout my treatment, my husband, family, and friends provided unwavering support, helping me navigate this challenging period. Over time, I adopted a more positive outlook and felt reassured knowing that I was receiving high-quality care at Baheya, especially given my status as a refugee.

I encourage all women to prioritize their health by undergoing regular check-ups and screenings. Early detection is key to successful treatment.
